Express carrier United Parcel Service is stepping up its efforts to win more cross-border shipment business with a new customs clearance program.

UPS said its new World Ease service combines the speed and tracking of express delivery with a consolidated customs clearance program, allowing shippers to send multiple packages to many destinations in the same country as one consolidated shipment.

This allows goods to move directly through customs as a single unit, reducing the need for warehousing, inventory and shipping, said UPS.

The service is available to 61 countries, the company added.
