Agence France-Presse reported today that the U.S. has donated 33 trucks to the Philippines to help its battle against Moro and communist rebels.

The 33 M-35 trucks, taken from U.S. army stocks in Japan, will be used to boost the mobility of forces battling insurgents in Mindanao, officials in Manila said today.

The Philippines has been one of the U.S. allies in Asia in the war on terrorism and the offensive against Iraq.

Officials have expressed hope that the stance would yield greater U.S. aid to its poorly equipped military, Agence France-Presse reported.
