USFreightways reorganizes logistics companies

USFreightways Corp. announced today that USF Distribution and USF Logistics will be combined under a single management team headed by Thomas Lilly in his new position as president, logistics group. Operating units of each business will remain intact under the new arrangement while administrative and sales functions will be shared. Both USF Logistics and USF Distribution will continue to do business

USFreightways Corp. announced today that USF Distribution and USF Logistics will be combined under a single management team headed by Thomas Lilly in his new position as president, logistics group.

Operating units of each business will remain intact under the new arrangement while administrative and sales functions will be shared. Both USF Logistics and USF Distribution will continue to do business under their present names.

In his new position, Lilly will also have direct-line reporting responsibility for USF Processors.

"These changes are being undertaken in order to capitalize on the strengths of both organizations and to enhance our ability to grow and compete in an increasingly complex marketplace," said Samuel K. Skinner, president & CEO of USFreightways.

USF Distribution is a national provider of value-added logistics services to the retail and consumer products markets. The company's service offerings include consolidation, cross-docking, distribution, import deconsolidation, store-ready services, truckload and yard management.

USF Logistics operations provide complete supply chain solutions for online retailers and manufacturers; transportation management, dedicated fleet and contract warehousing.
