Susan Alt, previously vp-marketing for Greensboro, NC-based Volvo Trucks North America, has been named president & CEO of Volvo Logistics and plans to focus on gaining business in two key global market segments.

“Our mandate is to focus on the automotive and aviation industries," Alt told Fleet Owner.

She said the 3PL will interact with both the transporter and service providers, depending on the situation. Alt noted that Volvo Logistics will be careful to maintain an arm's length type transaction when dealing trucking carriers that also offering logistics services.

“We will not and cannot tell a Volvo or Mack truck buyer that they must buy Volvo or Mack trucks,” Alt explained. “Nor can we give them any indication that because they buy Volvo or Mack they will have a material advantage for hauling our freight over a non Volvo or Mack truck buyer.”
