Salinas, CA-based Salinas Valley Ford is demonstrating the Boss Van, a low-floor commercial truck engineered by Dallas Smith Corp. exclusively for use with Ford Super Duty models.

The Boss Van takes Ford Super Duty through a low-floor conversion process during which the rear chassis frame of a standard F-450/550 is replaced with a low floor Z-Frame. When bodied up as a box truck, the new, lower chassis results in an 8-inch ground clearance, the dealer said.

The Boss Van incorporates Dallas Smith Corp.'s Wide-Trac Axleless air ride suspension. Low floor trucks decrease delivery times and workers’ compensation claims, Dallas Smith said. The lowered front-wheel drive vehicle also offers better handling and stability and improved fuel economy, the company added.
