Illinois DOT makes progress on I-90/94

Feb. 1, 2006
Designed for P&D and other vocational applications that require high output at idle, the new Delco Remy 36SI HP heavy-duty brushless alternator is rated at 100 amps at idle and 170 amps at highway speeds in ambient temperatures up to 105 deg. C

The Illinois Dept. of Transportation (IDOT) announced that the newly reconfigured northbound 39th St. entrance ramp and 35th St. exit ramp, as well as the southbound 35th St. entrance ramp and 39th St. exit ramp on the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94) are scheduled to reopen on Feb. 13, weather permitting.

IDOT said a second lane on LaSalle St. and Wentworth Ave. between 35th and 39th streets will also open at that time. IDOT’s Road Doctors expect the complete reconstruction of the ramps next month.

In other recent developments, the 57th St. Bridge on I-90/94 was fully opened to traffic on Jan. 13; and on Jan. 15, the northbound 87th St. exit ramp was closed until this July to reconstruct the ramp and build retaining walls. Drivers are being detoured to the 79th St. exit ramp.

IDOT is in the midst of a four-year $600 million reconstruction project on the Dan Ryan Expressway from 31st St. to 95th St. The project goals include improving safety for motorists, reducing commuting time on the city’s busiest expressway, and creating jobs.
