Even though it includes integrated GPS and Bluetooth capabilities and can accommodate a wide range of wireless communications options, the CN3 is small enough to fit in a pocket, according to developer Intermec Inc. It also offers bar code scanning or digital image capture with an optional integrated 1.3 megapixel camera, allowing it to take the place of cell phones, navigation systems, pagers, laptops and cameras, says Intermec.
Measuring 157mm by 84 mm by 30 mm, the new mobile computer has a variety of wireless options, including WiFi and 3G wide-area network capabilities. Users can also choose between GSM/EDGE and CDMA/EV-DO broadband wireless modems for both voice and data communications.
The CN3 use the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, which includes direct push technology for wireless email, and supports SmartSystems device management for maintenance and updates. Standard hardware features include a color display, a QWERTY keyboard 128 MB RAM, and a 2D imager for bar code scanning.
