The American Trucking Assns.’ (ATA) Share the Road program is kicking off its latest campaign by delivering a trailerload of bottled water to the Hurricane Katrina disaster area. The 1,176 cases of water, provided by Wal-Mart, will be sent to Waveland, MS and the Mississippi Emergency Management Administration in Jackson, MS via a custom truck and trailer for Share the Road that was donated by Mack Trucks Inc.
“We’re very pleased that the truck’s first mission will be providing critically needed relief supplies to the Hurricane Katrina disaster area,” said Mack Trucks president & CEO Paul Vikner. “It’s a very appropriate start for a vehicle with a life-saving agenda.”
The Share the Road program educates auto drivers on how to drive around commercial trucks.
