The company cited an anticipated market decline because of truck buyers purchasing equipment ahead of the stricter emissions regulations that go into effect in January. The early notice is to meet the requirements of the Ontario Employment Standards Act.

The Chatham plant is the primary source for the company's International 9000 Series Class 8 trucks. The current production schedule at the plant is 200 units per day, up from 162 units per day in January 2006.
