T440 ready for order

The Kenworth T440, which was officially unveiled at the Mid-America Trucking Show, is now available for order. Targeting regional-haul and P&D applications, the truck has a GVW ranging from a heavy Class 7 vehicle at 33,000 lbs. to a light Class 8 at 68,000 lbs. It comes standard in day cab configuration with the optional Kenworth Extended Day Cab model adding 6 in. in length and 5 in. of cab height.

Targeting regional-haul and P&D applications, the truck has a GVW ranging from a heavy Class 7 vehicle at 33,000 lbs. to a light Class 8 at 68,000 lbs. It comes standard in day cab configuration with the optional Kenworth Extended Day Cab model adding 6 in. in length and 5 in. of cab height.

The T440 is equipped with a Paccar PX-8 engine with ratings of 350 hp. and 1,000 lbs.-ft. of torque. There is an optional 9-liter, 2010 Cummins ISL engine at 380 hp. and 1,300 lbs.-ft of torque available. There are both 5- and 6-spd. automatic transmissions or 6-, 9-, 10-, 11- or 13-spd. manual options.

The front axle is rated at 12,000 to 22,000 lbs. with 21,000 to 30,000 lbs. single rear axle rating or 40,000 to 46,000 lbs. tandem rear axle rating.

The truck includes an aerodynamic sloped hood, tapered channel bumper, Kenworth signature grille, and forward lighting with halogen projector headlamps. Options include an aluminum or three-piece aerodynamic bumper and high-intensity discharge lighting. The T440 comes standard with the Kenworth Driver Information Center.
