TAMPA, FL— A proprietary rubber compound in the new Gates Green Stripe serpentine engine belt increases service life by resisting damage from high operating temperatures and constant flexing, according to the manufacturer.
Introduced at the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) annual meeting here, the FleetRunner Micro-V belt combines the new rubber compound with fibers and ground ribs to improve stability as it turns over the multiple pulleys in a serpentine drive system, according to Gates. The belt is also designed to provide extended life and reduced maintenance when paired with Gates’ DriveAlign tensions, which reduce drive system vibration and shock, the company says.
The entire Green Stripe product line is described in detail in a new pocket guide now available from Gates and its heavy-duty distributors. For more information, go to www.gates.com/fleet.
