Phoenix-based truckload carrier Swift Transportation Co. is deploying the PrePassPlus system developed by Dallas-based Affiliated Computer Services (ACS).
The technology will enable the carrier to comply with state safety and credential requirements while bypassing weigh stations at highway speeds and paying tolls electronically at toll plazas throughout the Northeast and Illinois.
“Swift’s decision to use PrePassPlus sends a strong message to the industry that our services have bottom line benefits,” said Michael Huerta, managing director of ACS’s transportation solutions business. “PrePass processes more than four-million weigh station bypasses monthly. That saves nearly two-million gallons of fuel and more than 340,000 hours of unnecessary weigh station stops.”
PrePass is currently available at 254 weigh stations, ports of entry and agricultural interdiction facilities in 24 states, Huerta added.
