Dallas, TX-based regional LTL carrier Central Freight Lines has hired Tom Biggs as a divisional vp for the carrier, working out of its Ft. Worth, TX offices for its Plains Division sales and operations teams to build new customer relationships, increase Central’s visibility and revenues in the division, and oversee productivity and operational improvements.

Biggs is a 20-year trucking veteran, most recently serving seven years as a division vp at USF Dugan. Prior to Dugan, Biggs worked as a terminal manager for both Overnight and American Freightways in Dallas, TX.

His experience at increasing business is sorely needed at central – it lost $8.3 million in the second quarter this year as revenues dropped 8%, compared to a loss of $1.1 million in the same period in 2004.
