The speed limit along the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project corridor in the Washington D.C. area will be lowered to 50 mph as early as May 26. The speed limit will be in effect along a 7.5-mi. stretch from east of the Maryland 210 interchange to west of the Telegraph Road interchange.
The speed limit was implemented in preparation for several traffic changes planned this summer at or near the U.S. Route 1 interchange. For example, between July 4 and Sept. 5 the entire Virginia Beltway will be routed under a new South Washington St. overpass west of the Wilson Bridge and east of the Route 1 interchange.
