We're Live

Sept. 29, 2014

Last week was a big week for us. Trucking efficiency.org launched with national exposure on CNBC’s the Squawk Box. Telling our story on a morning news story was pretty heady stuff especially when I got to make the announcement along with Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Carbon War Room. If you missed the announcement, click on these links (http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000312683 or http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000312683) to hear what we had to say.

It helped that we had an impressive story to tell. For the past six months a team of folks from the North American Council for Freight Efficiency and the Carbon War Room have been logging tons of hours writing, designing and testing the site to make sure it not only has useful information but that the material is easy to understand and to access.

We’ve broken the nearly 70 trucking efficiency technology solutions into seven broad categories: idle reduction, chassis, tires & rolling resistance, powertrain, tractor aerodynamics, trailer aerodynamics and operational practices. Within each category are descriptions of specific technology solutions, their benefits and any challenges they present.

For some technologies like those in the idle reduction category, 6x2 axles and tire pressure systems we have in-depth Confidence Reports that provide a wealth of information including real-world results from deploying the technology.

We are proud of the fact that the site is a comprehensive, unbiased, free, knowledge hub that will show fleet owners and owner-operators how they can reduce fuel costs by 30% to 50%.

But Trucking Efficiency is more than just a website. We will also be promoting technology adoption through a series of workshops, which will bring together industry leaders and technology experts to debate the benefits and challenges of adopting various technologies. Our next workshop is in Indianapolis on October 20 alongside IFDA Distribution Solutions. For more details go to: http://truckingefficiency.org/events/trucking-efficiency-workshop-indianapolis. Please join us.

I hope you’ll spend some time on the website and then get in touch with me ([email protected]) with your thoughts and comments about how we did.

The big launch is over, but our work goes on. Look for a Confidence Report on automated transmissions for us sometime next month. We have a slew of others planned for 2015. We’re not counting on this 15 minutes of fame to sustain Trucking Efficiency. We’re in to for the long haul and will continue to be an unbiased source fleets can count on for real-world solutions and savings.
