Major road closures for Dallas LBJ Freeway construction

March 1, 2013

Overnight construction on the LBJ Freeway in Dallas will lead to some major road closures. The biggest closure will be all southbound lanes on Interstate 35-E starting at the Loop 12 split and ending around the Harry Hines Boulevard on-ramps.

The closures throughout the next week will also include various lanes on the Dallas North Tollway and the permanent closure of the Montfort Drive exit on the westbound side of Interstate 635, according to a Dallas Morning News report.

I-35 full lane closures include all southbound lanes after the Loop 12 split. The next open on-ramp is Harry Hines Blvd. Lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday. On Friday night, the lanes will close at 9 p.m. and reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday. To detour take Loop 12 south to eastbound State Highway 114, then to eastbound State Highway 183 back to Interstate 35-E North or plan another alternate route.

The westbound exit to Montfort Drive off Interstate 635 will be permanently closed beginning Thursday at 12 a.m. To detour, take the Preston Road exit and continue to Montford Drive.

Two left lanes on the Dallas North Tollway around 1-635 will close from 11 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday. They will again close on Monday at 10 p.m. until Tuesday at 5 a.m. There is no recommended detour.

Northbound lanes on Preston Road will be closed beginning Friday and ending March 8 from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Fridays and 8.p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday to Thursday. No weekend closures are planned. Northbound traffic can detour to Hillcrest and circle back around to Preston Road on the LBJ Freeway’s westbound frontage road.
