May 1, 2015: Viral video costs trucker his job; Lawsuit filed in fatal crash; UPS adds LNG tractors

Here is a look at what is happening in the world of transportation this morning:

UPS has added 64 LNG tractors to its fleet of more than 2,500 natural gas vehicles, LNG Industry said.

• A mother of one of the five nursing students killed in last week’s I-16 multi-vehicle pileup is suing Total Transportation of Mississippi and its parent company, U.S. Xpress Enterprises, claiming its driver caused her daughter’s death. WSB Radio has more.

• A truck driver was fired after a video of a snake slithering across his windshield went viral, 9 News reported. His employer, Brown Trucking Company out of Georgia, fired him for operating a hand-held device while driving a commercial vehicle, according to the report.

• Baltimore police found a body inside a tractor-trailer cab that was parked less than a block away from protests, according to WGN TV. According to the report, the truck was apparently part of Earl L. Henderson Trucking Company’s fleet, and it was parked in front of the Baltimore Social Services building.

• Wyoming residents and officials are searching for solutions to end the pileups that have occurred on I-80, according to Wyoming News. One suggestion, according to the report, is to add more state troopers to patrol the highway.
