Battery-powered tracking device

June 6, 2012

Mentor Engineering has released a new battery-operated tracking device to help businesses monitor assets more efficiently. The ME100 is “asset-ready,” meaning it can be installed and field managed without the use of harnesses, antennas, or external power sources, Mentor said.

The ME100 uses motion sensors, comparative GPS positioning, and custom-configured sensors to collect and transmit location status in pre-determined intervals. It can also be custom configured to track an asset’s specific needs and provide emergency alerts via email, text, or cellular, the company said.

The device connects to Mentor Fleet, a mobile workforce management solution that can be tailored to each unique operating environment. Mentor Fleet provides vehicle and asset tracking, automated field ticketing, driver behavior and worker monitoring, reporting, hours of service, and maintenance capabilities.

“This device helps organizations manage valuable assets such as trailers, equipment and yellow iron. The three-year battery life and satellite tracking capabilities enable managers to ‘set it and forget it’ as the ME100 eliminates the potential for the loss or theft of fixed assets,” said Mike Koebel, vice president of sales and business development at Mentor Engineering.
