The people and the place at PeopleNet-TMW's first in.sight

Oct. 3, 2016
With the sheer size of the conference and the cavernous "outdoors brought indoors" venue where it was held, there were lots of memorable moments at PeopleNet's and TMW Systems' first joint in.sight conference. Were you there?

Start with it being held at Nashville, TN's Gaylord Opryland Resort and Conference Center, a massive indoor complex complete with restaurants, shopping, a "river" with boat tours, several promenades and walkways, whole quadrants of meeting rooms, practically an indoor rainforest and oh, we almost forgot — hotel rooms.

PeopleNet President Brian McLaughlin noted that this first combined TMW Systems-PeopleNet in.sight conference had required such a venue to accommodate all the attendees — when you're talking this size, the list of options gets pretty short. TMW President David Wangler said there were about 2,400 or so conference-goers, which wasn't surprising; both PeopleNet's and TMW's user conferences last year were large draws on their own.

Here are some scenes from around the conference and the exhibit hall, which featured more than 80 vendors.

Aaron Marsh

Before computerization had fully taken hold and automotive work took someone who speaks engine, Aaron grew up in Upstate New York taking cars apart and fixing and rewiring them, keeping more than a few great jalopies (classics) on the road that probably didn't deserve to be. He spent a decade inside the Beltway covering Congress and the intricacies of the health care system before a stint in local New England news, picking up awards for both pen and camera.

He wrote about you-name-it, from transportation and law and the courts to events of all kinds and telecommunications, and landed in trucking when he joined FleetOwner in July 2015. Long an editorial leader, he was a keeper of knowledge at FleetOwner ready to dive in on the technical and the topical inside and all-around trucking—and still turned a wrench or two. Or three.

Aaron previously wrote for FleetOwner.
