PeopleNet, Drivewyze to explore complimentary products and services

March 4, 2013

LAS VEGAS. PeopleNet and Drivewyze have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore collaboration that could bring complimentary products and services to PeopleNet’s customer base, the companies announced.

The announcement was made during the Truckload Carriers Assn. Annual Convention here this week.

Drivewyze uses electronic logging devices (ELDs), tablets and smartphones to allow commercial vehicles to bypass fixed weigh stations and mobile inspection sites. The company gives those devices transponder-like capability and eliminates the need for dedicated transponders in each truck. Fifteen states use the Drivewyze network, representing 218 sites.

PeopleNet and Drivewyze provide valuable and complimentary solutions and services, and we share the same value commitment to our motor carrier customers,” said Brian Heath, president of Drivewyze. “Together, both companies provide technologies that improve fleet operation efficiency and vehicle safety. As we continue to expand our network and grow our business, we are excited to be working with a leading ELD provider such as PeopleNet.”

The Drivewyze PreClear service provides hands-free compliance federal and state distracted driving regulations. It sends both visual and audible instructions to drivers to either bypass weigh stations and inspection sites, or to pull in.

“Drivewyze is a great compliment to PeopleNet’s onboard computing and mobile communications systems,” said Rick Ochsendorf, senior vice president of operations, PeopleNet. “As the first onboard computing provider with a commercially available product to sign an MOU with Drivewyze, we believe that together, we can provide unique solutions of significant value to our customers.”
