Allison Transmission has introduced a number of new Prognostic features now available on model year 2009 Allison 1000/2000/3000/4000 Series products. The company’s Prognostic monitors check various operating parameters to determine when specific maintenance is required, Allison said.
According to the company, the Oil Life Monitor is based on the vehicle’s duty cycle, sending out alerts when a fluid change is necessary; the Filter Life Monitor provides an alert when the transmission’s fluid filter is in need of a replacement and the Transmission Health Monitor gives notice when clutch maintenance is needed.
Use of Allison Approved TES 295 transmission fluid is required for all three monitors. The status of the Prognostic features can be checked by toggling through the shift selector’s display on 3000 and 4000 Series models, but require a separate transmission service light on 1000 and 2000 Series models, the company said.
