Three Intermec handheld devices are now capable of running the Xata Turnpike fleet management solution.

Turnpike, from Xata Corp., is a low-cost solution that installs on cell phones, smartphones, and tablet computers. It is designed to help drivers meet CSA and hours-of-service requirements.

“The addition of these new Intermec devices demonstrates our commitment to offering the most device-friendly fleet management solutions on the market,” said Charles Mohn, director, product management, Xata. “These Intermec devices make it easy for fleets and drivers to adhere to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program, which is designed to reduce commercial motor vehicle accidents. They will also run one of a number of POD systems in tandem with Xata Turnpike.”

The Intermec devices all use the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.

The CS40 is designed for harsh operating environments and features a 3.2 megapixel camera and 3.75G wireless WAN radio. The CN70 is a lightweight device with a brilliant display and advanced barcode imaging technology. The CN4 features 3.5G wireless technology and mobile document imaging.

“Bringing our award-winning solutions to these leading-edge Intermec devices enables us to better meet the diverse needs of our growing list of customers,” said Mohn. “Whatever their on-the-road mobility needs, Xata Turnpike runs on a mobile device that can help provide better value and functionality.”
