Rand McNally’s MileMaker software is taking on the world. The mileage and routing information product for North America will add a Global edition to calculate routes and miles as well in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.

MileMaker Global will use Rand McNally’s World Digital Database in combination with Navteq maps to bring global standardization to multi-market logistic applications such as freight contract negotiation, freight rate settling, freight bill auditing, fuel tax reporting and inter-continent routing, Rand McNally said.

The global edition will include more than 27-million kilometers of roads, 1.8-million points of interest and 112,700 standard point location codes as well as data for 198 countries, 2.7-million unique postal codes and more than 1,100 airports and 200,000 cities and towns.

“Leveraging the Navteq map database along with Rand McNally’s World Digital Database of mileage and routes provides a significant solution for the market.” said Roy Kolstad, vp & gm, Enterprise Americas, Navteq. “We value the opportunity to work with Rand McNally to deliver what we all agree is an immensely valuable product for the transportation industry.”

The Windows-based system is modularized by world regions and integrates into existing logistics systems. It includes all the most popular features of the current MileMaker offering, including smooth pan and zoom mapping, intuitive smart browse functions, location manager and Microsoft Excel Tools.
