A new web-based mobile workforce management solution from Mentor Engineering helps managers streamline operations right from their desktop due to its cloud computing capabilities, the company said.

Mentor Fleet provides automatic vehicle location (AVL)/GPS, vehicle telematics, driver behavior monitoring, reporting and maintenance capabilities, noted Mentor.

“We are excited to offer Mentor Fleet as a new way to help clients manage the day-to-day challenges of their fleet-based business,” said Mike Koebel, vp-sales & business development.

“With the ability to track such metrics as when and where vehicles exceed a speed threshold and reducing the avoidable idling of vehicles, clients can encourage better driver behavior and see real fuel savings.”

The solution is comprised of several integrated modules each serving a different function. Real-time maps track and locate vehicles while at-a-glance information on drivers and vehicles can be viewed in real-time as well.

Unnecessary idling, excessive speed, and unauthorized vehicle usage are also monitored. By monitoring speed and idling, managers can proactively identify at-risk drivers and develop training programs to encourage safer, and more fuel-efficient, driving practices.

Maintenance schedules are also monitored by Mentor Fleet, identifying vehicles that need attention so they can be proactively serviced before repairs require extended downtime, Mentor said.
