GPS-enabled smart phones and location-based service products can now act as tracking devices to within a 5- to 15-meter radius in less than nine seconds, providing more exact and timely location than cell phone triangulation, according to GPS Core Technologies.

The company’s MobileCore tracking solution is a scalable, customizable mobile smart phone client that provides "very close proximity" GPS software into a brand’s current product or service offerings, providing asset tracking, workforce and fleet management, consumer behavior monitoring and more, Core Technologies said.

"We enable real-time, 24/7 GPS tracking of people and assets anywhere in the world, which is vital in increasing workforce productivity, improving customer service and eliminating unauthorized use of mobile assets," said Sean Watts, CEO of GPS Core Technologies. "With MobileCore and our other solutions, we help companies monetize and drive bottom-line revenues from their GPS implementations."

Compatible with all GPS-enabled Blackberry, Microsoft Windows Mobile smart phones and all GPS tracking devices, MobileCore resides on the device as a "persistent application" that cannot be stopped by an end user. It consumers less than 15% of a phone’s battery life with five-minute location updates over a 24-hour period, the company said.
