Multi-company functionality is one of the significant upgrades to TMW Systems' TruckMate 2009. The popular operations system now allows a single database to handle more than one company's business transactions, providing viewing of cross-company data while also allowing user-restricted access, TMW said.

"We are excited to bring this latest version of our product to both new and existing customers," said Randall Burrell, svp & gm. "TruckMate 2009 includes a strong array of technical and functional enhancements that clearly represent a new business standard for our software."

Other changes to the program is a new screen-designer mode to allow users to tailor screens and data in the most usable format, a GL Reset option for customized distribution of the GL account and revenue splitting based on loaded leg mileage; integration with ALK PCMiler Tolls; integration with Carrier411; additional online freight board services for brokerages; and richer options for the Crystal Reports Access Manager.

The release also marks the beginning of a rolling-release delivery strategy, and a change in name, TMW said. This will allow more product enhancements to reach customers quicker in a smoother, less disruptive process, the company said. The previous version to be released was TruckMate v. 8.0.

The intermodal functionality also includes several updates, including a quick-entry mode for adding containers from the trip doors list; displaying and assigning container and chassis names in yard and trip door views; and more per diem rate and free day schedule calculation options.

LTL businesses will also see improvement from the city dispatch function, which has quick mapping capabilities for pickups and deliveries; piece level tracking; short form pickup entry and quick bill entry; daily LTL quotes for current terminal; and new LTL mileage rule setup to determine driver pay rates automatically.

Improved interoperability with other TMW products, such as the DriverSeat web portal, TMT Fleet Maintenance software, IDSC ExpertFuel and the D2Link mobile communications system is also included.
