The 27th annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition was held June 18-20 at the Oak Grove Petro 70 in Oak Grove, MO. Brad Caton, of Hampton, MN, with Eilen & Sons Trucking, was awarded the Best of Show top prize of $10,000 for his 2007 Peterbilt tractor with 2007 Mac Smooth Side. Caton also captured the Best Engine award, while Chris Anderson of Odessa, TX drove away with the People’s Choice award, voted on throughout the event by all contestants and spectators, for his 2000 Kenworth.
The three-day beauty contest for actively working trucks provides owner-operators from the United States and Canada the opportunity to compete for $25,000 in cash and additional prizes. Competitive categories included: Tractor, Tractor/Trailer Combination, Classic, Best Chrome, Best Theme, Best Mural, Best Lights, Best Interior, Best Engine and People’s Choice.
In addition to Caton and Anderson, other truckers also won the opportunity to appear beside their trucks in the 2010 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar, including Eric Holthaus of Seneca, KS who took first place in the Tractor/Trailer competition for his 2002 Peterbilt, Curtis Christians of Rockport, MO who drove away with first place in the Tractor competition for his 2005 379 Peterbilt, and Jerry Kissinger of Stoughton, WI who captured first place in the Classic division with his 1991 Mack Superliner.
