Caterpillar recognizes Dayco for quality excellence

June 12, 2015

Dayco, a global engine management technologies supplier for the automotive, industrial and aftermarket end-markets, announced it has received the 2015 Silver Supplier Certification as a part of Caterpillar’s Supplier Quality Excellence Process. This award, presented to the Dayco belt tensioner and idler pulley manufacturing facility in Wujiang, China, recognizes suppliers that have achieved Caterpillar Quality Management System supplier certification, the company said.

“As a worldwide leader in the manufacturing of industrial equipment and engines, Caterpillar is an important business partner for Dayco and we will continue to support Caterpillar’s global business strategy by supplying the technologies and systems that keep engines moving,” said John Bohenick, chief executive officer for Dayco. “Our investments in China are a big step forward in our goal of fully supporting Caterpillar, as well as other partners in this growing market.”

“Through demonstrated results, Dayco has exhibited excellent process control, has shown a desire for ongoing continuous improvement, and has provided quality product to their Caterpillar customers,” according to Caterpillar. Dayco supplies both belt tensioners and idler pulleys to Caterpillar for its 1100 and 1200 series engines, along with industry-leading technical and sales support.

“Caterpillar continues to experience rapid growth in the industrial market in China,” said Charlie Qiu, president for Dayco China. “As a global engine components manufacturer, we will continue to leverage our resources worldwide to provide the best service and products available to support Caterpillar’s growth in China.”

In 2011, Dayco opened the Wujiang facility, its first automotive unit in China. Since, Dayco’s position in China has become an important part of its growth strategy, the company said. Earlier this year, Dayco held its first distributor’s conference in China, a next step for the company as it continues to build on its strengths and growth objectives for China, Dayco said.
