National fleets that primarily use Freightliner trucks can now tap into a customized software package geared to help them better manage the maintenance needs of their vehicles. The new fleet-facing Freightliner version, dubbed Decisiv Service Management Platform 5.1 (DSMP 5.1) is designed to provide improved communication with service locations to help increase asset utilization.

“For a growing number of fleets that use Freightliner trucks, the DSMP 5.1 product is reducing downtime and improving repair quality,” said Derek Messulam, senior vp at Decisiv. “Using a web-based portal, fleets can receive immediate notification of service transactions as they occur across the country, and view and approve service events.”

Messulam said DSMP 5.1 contains several important upgrades and builds upon the original platform built by Decisiv for Freightliner LLC that was launched in 2003. Participating fleets can utilize the platform to review notes provided by the service location, as well as analyze results of the inspection and related documents, said Messulam. Fleet users can also create an electronic profile with contact, operational and vehicle information and provide a unique vehicle inspection to be performed when a vehicle arrives at a participating service location.

Fleet managers can also use DSMP to initiate a service transaction, he added. The selected service location receives a notification that includes information from the fleet profile along with comments from the fleet manager or breakdown center so the service write-up process can commence prior to the vehicle’s arrival, Messulam noted.
