A new tire from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. designed for waste hauling applications offers a deeper, 24/32-in. tread to extend tread life. The G289 WHA, introduced at the Waste Expo in Las Vegas, includes a waste haul compound that provides scrub resistance for longer tread life and retreadability, the company said.

"Today, we've launched a waste-hauling tire that we believe sets a new standard when it comes to productivity and cost reductions," said Donn Kramer, Goodyear's director of commercial tire marketing. "The G289 WHA was built from the ground up to be a performance leader."

With distinct sidewall protector ribbing to resist sidewall scuffing, a shoulder design to direct pressure from the outer tread for uniform tread wear, and utilizing Goodyear's DuraSeal Technology which offers built-in tire sealing, the G289 will fit the majority of waste haul vehicles in its 315/80R22.5 size in load range L at 10,200 lb. capacity.

The tire provides all-season traction as well, the company said.
