Horton is now offering Modulator fully variable retrofit packages for customers looking for optimized engine cooling in any climate.
Aftermarket modulator retrofit packages replace on/off fan drives for many heavy-duty line-haul and severe-duty vocational trucks where pneumatically actuated fan clutches over-cycle or do not provide optimum performance.
According to the company, the Modulator retrofit packages offer faster cab warm-up, more efficient air-conditioning and quieter operation for improved operator comfort. These packages maximize engine power to the vehicle drive wheels and improve fuel savings in most applications. Modulator retrofit packages reduce downtime and have a long service life under severe-duty conditions.
The Modulator RCV250 Fan Drive is directly controlled and managed by the engine’s electronic control module (ECM) in many applications. Modulator provides continuous variable, precise fan speed and is engineered to turn larger fans that require higher torque.
Two Modulator retrofit packages are available. For specific Cummins engine applications, the retrofit package contains:
- Modulator RCV250 Fan Drive assembly - Modulator Fan Drive, mounting bracket and pulley
- Retrofit installation kit – Horton’s Di Controller, wiring harness and step-by-step installation manual
- WindMaster HS11 Fan
Retrofit packages for applications that do not require the Horton Di controller use the vehicle ECM to directly control the Modulator.
