A new truck for vocational and municipal applications from Kenworth is now available for order with production set to begin in July, Kenworth said. The T470 is ideal for dump, mixer, winch, refuse and other heavy-axle vocational and municipal applications, according to the company.

It is powered by a 9-liter Cummins ISL engine with 345 hp and 1,150 ft.-lbs. of torque. Front axle options include 12,000 to 22,000 lbs. ratings with 21,000 to 26,000 lbs. single rear axles or 40,000 to 46,000 tandem rear axles. The fixed grille hood has a 50.5 in. bumper setting for installation of a front engine PTO. The hood allows for full extended frame rails for a heat-treated, 120,000 psi steel frame without the need for cutouts. Halogen projector headlamps are standard.

The T470's interior is the same multiplexed dash installed on Kenworth's Class 8 models with a large panel for installation of body controls and gauges. The Driver Information Center is standard and an extended day cab option is available, the company said.
