Kidron truck body production ramps up

Sept. 20, 2012

A new facility in Kansas will allow VT Hackney, makers of Kidron insulated and refrigerated truck bodies, to increase production by more than 50% annually.

The new facility covers 70,000 sq. ft. on 28 acres in Independence, KS, and will be able to produce more than 2,000 truck bodies yearly, the company said. It will produce Kidron’s ColdShield system.

According to VT Hackney, ColdShield is a state-of-the-art foaming system which enables Kidron truck bodies to protect refrigerated products by holding cold temperatures longer.

“This is an historic day for our company, employees and the city of Independence,” said Mike Tucker, president & CEO of VT Hackney at the grand opening event. “Our reputation rests firmly on the quality of the products we manufacture and deliver to our customers. The Kansas team has been manufacturing market-leading, innovative transportation products since 1972. The Kidron product offering is a great fit with our current production capabilities, our employees are looking forward to serving this important customer base.”
