Michelin recalls select light truck tires

July 30, 2012

Michelin North America said it is voluntarily recalling  an estimated 841,000 BFGoodrich Commercial T/A, A/S and Uniroyal Laredo HD/H tires in the U.S., Canada and Mexico – tires typically used on commercial light trucks and full-sized heavy duty vans, with 799,900 of those recalled tires sold in the U.S. alone.

The company stressed in a statement that while no deaths or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled tires – a recall that’s been reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) – there is a safety risk as a roughly 143 those BF Goodrich and Uniroyal tire models experienced tread loss and/or rapid air loss as a result of tread belt separation.

Michelin added that the affected tires were manufactured beginning in April 2010 and are no longer being produced, pointing out that none of the recalled tires were fitted as original equipment on new vehicles and were sold only as new replacement tires.

Owners of the affected tires – with the specific model numbers displayed in the chart below – should take their vehicles to an authorized dealer where the tires will be replaced at no charge.
