Fontaine to install Carrier ComfortPro

Through an agreement between Fontaine Modification and Carrier Transicold, Fontaine will become the largest single installer of Carrier’s ComfortPro auxiliary power units (APUs) for new trucks. The APU provides climate control—including heating and air conditioning—as well as AC power supply, truck battery charging, engine warming and optional shore-power connectivity.

The arrangement between Carrier and Fontaine Modification allows trucks built at an OEM plant to be diverted to an adjacent intermediate manufacturing facility for ComfortPro APU installation by Fontaine.

Upon installation completion, the chassis is re-inserted into the OEM freight system for delivery to the next or final destination with little or no additional freight or logistics costs, since Fontaine has ship-through agreements in place with most truck production facilities in North America.

Eduardo Andrade, Carrier Transicold business manager – special products, said, “Fontaine’s wide operational breadth, depth of engineering expertise and existing relationships with truck OEMs complement Carrier Transicold’s ComfortPro dealer base. Fleets placing new truck orders now have a turn-key partner for ComfortPro APU installation, engineered exactly to the specifications of their particular tractor/sleeper configurations.”
