Rostra Precision Controls Inc. (www.rostra.com) has introduced its RearSight Back Up Camera/OEM Navigation Interface Harness Kits for car and SUV drivers

Rostra Precision Controls Inc. has introduced its RearSight Back Up Camera/OEM Navigation Interface Harness Kits for car and SUV drivers who want to add a backup safety option to their vehicles' existing navigation screen. The OEM Navigation Interface Harness Kits come with Rostra's RearSight shrouded mini-camera. The kits are designed for the 2007 Toyota Camry and Toyota Solara (Kit #250-8076), 2007 GM 900 Series - Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Tahoe, Avalanche, Silverado, Sierra, Escalade, Escalade EXT and Escalade ESV - and the 2008 H2 (Kit #250-8075).

According to the company, the system uses a high-quality color camera that can be mounted to the license plate trim panel. When the vehicle is put into reverse, the camera is activated and the image from behind the car is projected onto the navigation screen. When the vehicle is placed in drive, the in-cab screen returns to the navigation display. Rostra's GM Navigation Interface Harness Kits require activation at the dealership. The backup camera comes with a three-year warranty.

"With our new Navigation Interface Harness Kits, motorists can safely look behind their vehicles using our 150-degree, wide angle backup camera," said Sibyl Ringsdorf, manager of marketing & national accounts for Rostra. "In addition to helping drivers avoid objects in their blind spot, our kit eliminates the need for a second monitor inside the vehicle."
