More and more states are banning cellphone use without a hands-free device. To combat this, Paccar Parts is now offering the Mirrex Bluetooth headset through Kenworth and Peterbilt dealerships throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The noise-cancelling headset filters out background noise and is designed specifically for trucking. It is equipped with a bendable boom that allows drivers to talk in a normal conversational tone. The headset includes a rechargeable lithium battery offering up to 14 hours of talk time and 20 days of standby time per charge, two chargers, a 12V vehicle charger, and a 110V home charger.
“Finding a suitable option can be frustrating since not all hands-free devices work well in the environment of a truck cab,” said Jeff Sass, general marketing manager for Paccar. The microphone is adjustable for right- or left-hand use and uses a cushioned earpiece and adjustable headband.
The headset can be used up to 33 ft. away from the cellphone, and can be transferred to as many as eight cellphones. Buttons on the side of the headset offer drivers volume control, last number redial, call transfer and voice dial with voice-recognition phones.
