Mitsubishi Fuso is offering a new engine protection system on its model-2006 FE and FG medium-duties that will measure oil pressure and coolant temperature.

According to the OEM, an audible alarm sounds and a warning light comes on if oil pressure drops or coolant temperature rises to a dangerous level.

If the situation corrects itself within 30 seconds, the alarm system will automatically reset itself. If not, the system will shut down the engine and the warning light will continue to flash.

Mitsubishi Fuso says the 30-second delay was designed into the system to give a driver time to pull over to the side of the road before the engine shuts down.
