Peterson releases new interior LED light

March 17, 2014

Peterson Manufacturing has developed a new interior LED light for cargo vehicles. Listed as the 359 Series the light features a slim 1 in. x 18 in. bar of high-output Great White LEDs and offers a host of advantages over traditional recessed dome light, the company said.

It features surface screw mount versatility and whether it is mounted horizontally and/or vertically, the 359 Series light requires no cutting into trailer ceilings or side walls to install heat-dissipating mounting pans and conduit, thus reducing material costs and eliminating loss of R-value in insulated cargo areas.

Simple no-splice harness connections avoid wiring problems while saving even more on labor costs.

“Purchasing and installing these new lights is about half the cost of the old, recessed dome light models,” said Pat Clift, director-OEM sales. “And the 359’s cost efficiencies are matched by its energy and lighting efficiencies.”

The Great White LEDs output 600 lumens per unit, resulting in less amp demand compared to conventional LED ceiling units.

“The 359’s mounting versatility allows lights to be located strategically around the trailer interior,” said Clift. “You can flood the entire trailer with bright light, banishing shadows and enhancing the convenience and safety of cargo handling, day or night.”

Designed for use in any environment from -55 deg. F to higher temperatures, the 359 Series is ideal for a wide range of applications –– from heavy duty dry van and reefer trailers to smaller box trucks. An interior control module/timer switch is also available as an option.

Clift said the first 359 Series lights will be available in the 18 in. bar model in summer with 12 in. and 6 in. slim-line models to follow.
