For International Truck customers waiting for the transition to SCR emissions technology to officially begin, this week marked that milestone. Navistar announced yesterday afternoon that the first Class 8 ProStar+ tractor with Cummins ISX15 engine and Cummins Emission Solutions’ SCR-aftertreatment has rolled off the production line at Escobedo, Mexico this week.
“This is a great accomplishment for Navistar and an important milestone as we bring our first SCR-based Class 8 trucks to the marketplace,” said Troy Clarke, Navistar president & COO. “The entire launch team and hundreds of others working behind the scenes are committed to a high-quality launch and this achievement is another proof point in our progress.”
The initial ProStar+ with ISX15 engines will be added to Navistar’s test fleet during Navistar’s final validation process. Navistar said it has secured orders for more than 1,000 ProStar+ trucks with the ISX15.
Regular production of the vehicle will begin in April, Navistar said.
