Retro gets tech

Oct. 13, 2014

This 1965-model Magirus Deutz F Jupiter A truck was spotted somewhere on the road from Bonn to Berlin. It was just one of 70 historic commercial vehicles that took part last month in the 14th “Tour of Germany” classic-car event.

But not only were the vintage trucks entirely road-worthy for the biennial run, they were kitted up with some of the latest apps available through ZF Friedrichshafen AG’s Openmatics “flexible telematics platform.”

Germany-based ZF said both “Messenger” and “CoPilot Truck Professional” apps were put to use via tablet computers .
