LAS VEGAS. Among the sprawling Las Vegas Convention Center floor this week at the World of Concrete are hundreds of products dedicated to construction and concrete operations and worker safety. While many have no practical uses to Fleet Owner’s primary audience of trucking operations, nonetheless, some could be helpful to portions of our readership. These are a few of the new products available that could help those involved in construction operations.
Weather Guard transfer tanks
Weather Guard announced several new transfer tanks. The tanks are designed to fit in the bed of a pickup truck and hold diesel fuel or hydraulic fluid, allowing the user to transport the liquids to remote equipment. The tanks come in 40, 45 or 50 gal. sizes.
The transfer tanks feature fully arc-welded, heavy 14 gauge steel construction for long-lasting durability. The interior baffle design reduces fluid movement and provides extra tank reinforcement. In addition, the lockable, vented filler cap prevents excessive pressure build-up.
The Bulldog Bucket
The Bulldog Bucket is a produce designed to help concrete mixer operators with washout, the process of removing leftover concrete. There is a snap-in lid that is removed during the washout and replaced during transit. The bucket rack is attached between the bumper and the mud flap and has an outrigger that allows the bucket to slide into position for washing out and back into the rack easily without lifting. It is perfect for pump jobs, but can also be used with a light wash on multiple chutes or in tandem with the tank system or an air pump. As an added bonus feature, the rack itself becomes a platform for the driver to stand on to see better when unloading into a pump or a secure area of the bumper to stand on to assist during the wash out process.
The Bulldog Bucket prevents the “scrape and go” that many drivers employ and prevents leftover concrete mix and slurry water from dripping from the truck on the road back to the plant.
Atlas Copco light towers
Atlas Copco Construction Equipment has launched two new light towers – the HiLight V4 and the LED HiLight V5+.
The HiLight V5+ minimizes operational costs with its long-lasting LED bulbs and fuel-efficient operation, the company said, while the HiLight V4 features four metal-halide floodlights to give contractors a dependable light source for a variety of jobsites. Both models are lightweight, compact and feature Atlas Copco’s exclusive HardHat canopy for extreme durability in rugged applications.
The LED floodlights are rated for 10,000 hours and are durable to withstand a range of challenges, from vibrations during transport to harsh work environments.
The LED floodlights, 3-kilowatt generator and Tier 4 Final Kubota diesel engine that operates at 1,800 rpm combine to allow the HiLight V5+ to achieve runtimes as long as 140 hours while minimizing fuel consumption on nighttime projects.
Atlas Copco’s HiLight V4 also has a Tier 4 Final Kubota diesel engine with a 6-kilowatt generator to power four metal-halide floodlights.
Liebherr truck-mounted concrete pump
Liebherr showed off its truck-mounted concrete pump 37 Z4 XXT. Configured in four sections, the 37-meter distributor boom in Z-fold design is extremely torsion-resistant, and consequently exhibits low-vibration boom movements on the building site.
The concrete pipeline on the Liebherr truck-mounted concrete pump 37 Z4 XXT is configured close to the boom on the left and right-hand sides, guaranteeing a balanced weight distribution. The pipe bends of the concrete pipeline feature a large radius of 10.8 in ensuring minimal losses in pressure over the length of the distributor boom. To minimize the necessity of stockpiling different wear parts, Liebherr predominantly uses pipe bends of the same type. Numerous special design details facilitate the replacement of wear parts and optimize servicing.
The front and rear outriggers are secured directly to the boom pedestal of the distributor boom, whereby the forces are channeled directly into the supports from the boom, without deviation. All four outriggers are pivot-mounted, allowing maximum flexibility and a particularly extensive working range of the distributor boom with narrow supports. The truck-mounted concrete pump 37 Z4 XXT is equipped with high-performance pump units in 2 different output sizes, with flow rates of 180 yd3/h (138 m³/h) or 213 yd3/h (163 m³/h).
Chassis from various truck manufacturers may be selected by the customer as an underbody for the truck-mounted concrete pump.
