Thermo King offers deep freeze with shore power

April 28, 2014

Thermo King Corp. recently unveiled its all-new Precedent S-700 refrigeration unit. According to the company, it is the only deep frozen refrigeration unit with shore power capabilities. A member of the Precedent family, the S-700 features a completely new platform for the trailer market designed to be fully compliant with the new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier IV final regulations-- without the addition of diesel particulate filters (DPF) or engine emissions systems (EES).

The S-700, Thermo King noted, is an ideal solution for customers moving temperature-sensitive products like pharmaceuticals, fresh seafood or other deep freeze loads through hot climates.

Texas-based Blue Bell Creameries has been testing the Precedent S-700 unit since August 2013, hauling product at 18 F below zero and traveling as far as 700 miles per trip. “We like the reliability of the Precedent S-700 best, as we transport our ice cream at 18 F below zero to maintain quality,” said Steven Glaesmann, trailer supervisor for Blue Bell. “The unit has always maintained our desired temperature, no matter the ambient temperature. We’ve had zero issues over the past seven months, which is key to keeping our product on the road and in stores.”

Thermo King, an Ingersoll Rand brand, also introduced the new X430P Compressor, designed to deliver superior reliability and durability. The X430P uses integrated oil filters to reduce leaks and installation time. The compressor’s shaft seal design results in 85% improved reliability, the company noted.
