Wabash showing DuraPlate pup trailer, lightweight freight van

March 12, 2013

NASHVILLE, TN. Wabash National Corp. is showing a new 28-ft. pup trailer as well as an ultra-lightweight DuraPlate HD dry freight van this week at the Technology and Maintenance Council’s annual meeting.

The 28-ft. DuraPlate bonded pup trailer features high-strength bonding technology, including fully-bonded sidewalls, a bonded DuraPlate composite roof system, and bonded logistics posts, Wabash said. The trailer will also be fitted with new DuraPlate AeroSkirts specifically designed for less-than-truckload applications.

The ultra-lightweight DuraPlate HD dry freight van features Wabash National’s new MaxClearance overhead door system, which provides up to 110 in. of vertical door opening, comparable to that of swing door models. The trailer also features the ID/Auxiliary Stop Light System, the DuraPlate AeroSkirt and several of the company’s newest weight-saving options.

“In today’s freight operating environment, the ability to provide fleets with innovative solutions that reduce the trailer’s total cost of ownership, enhance productivity and improve fuel economy is more important than ever,” said Robert Lane, Wabash national director of product and business development.  “For the past few years, we’ve been working with some of America’s leading fleets to develop and test these new innovations. We look forward to introducing them to the industry at TMC.”
