Trailer rental and leasing company Xtra Lease has begun taking delivery of 1,000 new DuraPlate dry van trailers from Wabash National. Delivery of the order is expected to be completed by August, and the company said it intends to order another 1,000 “at a later date.”

The new vans feature air-ride suspensions, aluminum roofs, air-assisted sliders, and high floor rating capacity, as well as the DuraPlate composite walls.

Owned by Berkshire Hathaway, Xtra Lease said it is adding equipment because it expects that tight capital conditions in the current economic climate will make trailer leasing even more attractive to fleets.
