The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) collected more than 800 driver surveys on truck parking at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Ky. And drivers unable to attend the show still have the chance to provide input on truck parking. The survey is available at atri-online.org. ATRI will collect driver responses through the end of April.According to ATRI, its latest survey cross-references driver perceptions of truck parking availability with the viability of truck parking reservation systems and exactly how truck drivers put a "value" on truck parking availability. This latest ATRI data collection initiative was driven by the selection of truck parking as one of the top priority research topics for 2015 by ATRI’s Research Advisory Committee, according to an ATRI press release. Additionally, truck parking continues to rank high in ATRI’s annual Top Industry Issues Survey. In the 2014 survey, truck parking ranked sixth overall but among truck drivers in the survey it ranked second, eclipsed only by the challenges associated with the hours-of-service regulations, according to ATRI.
