FMCSA orders C & D Transportation to shut down

Nov. 28, 2012

The U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Illinois-based C & D Transportation, Inc. “an imminent hazard to public safety” and ordered the interstate motor carrier to immediately shut down its operations.

According to FMCSA, C & D Transportation, Inc. willfully violated an out-of-service order and continued to operate by renting vehicles on the effective date of the out-of-service order, one of which crashed.

The carrier also failed to ensure that its drivers complied with commercial driver's license requirements and English proficiency requirements, as well as violating vehicle weight limits and duty status requirements.

“C & D Transportation, Inc.'s flagrant disregard for compliance with safety regulations poses an ongoing and continuing imminent hazard to public safety and must be discontinued immediately,” FMCSA said.
