YRC raising rates

June 26, 2012

YRC Freight announced that it is increasing general rates covering non-contractual shipments in the U.S., Canada and Mexico by an average of 6.9% starting July 9.

The LTL carrier – which changed its name to YRC Freight earlier this year as part of a rebranding effort – noted this rate boost will vary by lane and shipment type and that domestic Canadian rates won’t be adjusted at this time.

The move follows other recent notices of rate increases in the trucking market, most notably by FedEx Freight, the LTL subsidiary of FedEx Corp., which also announced a 6.9% rate increase starting July 9 this year – a rate change that affects shipments within the contiguous U.S., between the contiguous U.S. and Canada, and within Canada, the company said.

Those increases follow a 6.75% boost to FedEx Freight’s rates back in September last year. However, the carrier added that its fuel surcharge will remain unchanged.
