Westrux International in Sante Fe Springs, CA, is the newest eStar dealer in the Navistar network. The eStar is an all-electric truck. The dealership will provide sales, service and network support for the vehicle.

“We’re proud to provide service and support for eStar customers in Southern California,” said David Kenney, president & CEO, Westrux International. “The eStar is an exciting new product with amazing potential to revolutionize the industry and transform thinking when it comes to clean, efficient transportation.”

Produced through an alliance with British firm Modec, the eStar is a purpose-built vehicle, according to the OEM. Navistar took advantage of a $39.2-million grant via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to quickly develop and bring to market the medium-duty truck.

The vehicle features a low center of gravity and a 36-ft. turning circle. It includes a walk-through cab and quick-change cassette-type battery that can be swapped out in 20 minutes, said Navistar.

The eStar boasts a two-ton payload and the low-floor design makes loading and unloading easy while a large windshield offers 180-deg. visibility. It is a Class 2/3 truck and has an operating range of up to 100 miles on a single charge, noted Navistar, which said it takes less than eight hours for an eStar to reach full charge.
