The Diesel Technology Forum is hosting a free webinar on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (EDT) for anyone interested in applying for Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) grants.

The webinar, “Preparing your DERA Grant Application: What You Need to Know for FY2011,” will present information on the DERA grant application process before the next round of funding, which will take place in November.

Officials from EPA and the Forum will detail the process for applying for a share of the expected $60 million in funding to be split between DERA national and state components. Application tips from grant reviewers will be offered.

DERA was created to improve air quality by upgrading and modernizing older diesel engines and equipment through engine replacements and the application of new exhaust emissions filters and catalysts. These upgrades can reduce emissions from older engines by as much as 90%, the Forum said.
